What no-one told you about etiquette: 4 Etiquette Myths Revealed.

Have you ever wondered what the fuss was all about etiquette? For some reason, many ladies dismiss it as a laborious chore anytime its mentioned.

Here are 4 things that'll open your mind up and remove the mental picture that limits etiquette to a queen waving a stiff gloved hand up in the air.

You might even begin to add social etiquette in your day to day life and elevate your personal brand.

#1. It's about people

Etiquette is about having care for people around you making them feel at ease. It also entails paying the utmost attention to them by being respectful, considerate and creating an inviting space for those around you.

When you present yourself to people in the best way, it shows that you genuinely care about them.

You can have the hottest outfit, perfect posture, best tone of voice, superb dinner manners, but if you are mean spirited, then you lack etiquette.

#2. It's antiquated

With digital taking over our lives, people are generally becoming more and more socially awkward. Kids are glued to the screens, adults permanently on their phones. It's because of this that etiquette has become important now than ever before.

Etiquette teaches you how to navigate social interactions by having an appreciation of other people's cultures and develop empathy. This in return creates a positive impact on how you relate with others in a warm and pleasing way.

#3. It isn't for the Elite

Like any skill, anyone can learn etiquette. It isn't a preserve for the wealthy or affluent. All it takes is for you to be intentional about learning decorum, poise, charisma and personal presentation.

With easy access to online books, coaches and articles, all the information that you need is readily available. Search for the information and you'll get it.

#4. It's an easy mindset to acquire.

Like all skillsets, etiquette requires a conscious effort on your part. It means building awareness of others throughout your day to day interactions. This builds your emotional intelligence.

Start by genuinely liking people. This a key step because people usually pick up mental cues given off by others.

If you think positively about people, you'll have much more pleasant interactions with them. That's because a happy person is an attractive person. Such people draw positive people and experiences towards them.
