Feminine not Feminist: 3 Fascinating Differences.

The other day a friend of mine called to congratulate me on my book.

He then went on to say " Wow, I can now get to understand how Feminists think".

I sweetly went on to clarify that my book is about femininity.

He then said, "Yes I know, feminists, like Chimamanda". I realised we weren't communicating. The more I tried to explain that I am all for femininity the more confused he got. He couldn't get the difference.

So I decided to write this post to simplify the meaning of 3 terms that describe womanhood. Traditional feminine, new feminine & Feminist.

1.

Traditional feminine

A traditional feminine woman has traits of a typical wife or even stay at home mum.

She's typically thought to be a gentle, submissive and a selfless caregiver.

She places a lot of attention on her physical appearance because she believes that's where her value comes from.

Given that her main focus is on raising her family, dotting around her children and husband, she's viewed as unambitious, just as society expects her to be.

All this leads her to place herself last.

2.

Modern Feminine

The New feminine woman embraces her womanhood, her physical and sexual appeal.

To add on to that, this kind of woman is intentional when it comes to uncovering and pursuing her passions, dreams and desires.

She's interested in being the highest version of herself.

This is what gives her a sense of purpose for her existence.

She also looks at failures as opportunities to improve, thus progressing her life's journey.

She knows that the best way she can be present for her loved ones is after she's cared for herself.

The modern feminine woman leads with her intuition and vulnerability as part of the feminine strengths that she embodies. She loves her self wholeheartedly.

3.

Feminist

On the other hand, feminists believe in the social, economic empowerment of both sexes.

They tend to lead with their masculine energy.

This makes them want to talk, dress and generally be like men.

They're social justice warrior type who would rather be independent and aggressive than vulnerable, empathetic or intuitive.

Feminists are basically second rate men.

Now that you know the differences between the 3, where do you think you lean mostly towards?

Hugs,

Linda
